Made in India operating system Indus OS and US based Iris scanning technology provider Delta ID combinedly announced to launch an Aadhaar powered operating system in India. Indus OS has become India’s first ever Aadhaar authenticated operating system, and uses iris biometric technology for secure identification and Authentication.
A smartphone powered with Indus OS and Delta ID technology, has built-in iris scanning camera to capture the user iris. As this iris authentication system would directly embedded with UIDAI server, the possibilities seem to be endless for such a smartphone in India. You can buy products, make digital payments, check E-mails, send messages and many more with just locking your eyes with your camera!

Aadhaar card holders virtually has their biometric data recorded with the government. This has led government and other private players to come up with the Aadhaar authenticated system. previously, Reliance Jio come up with fingerprint authentication system via fingerprint scanner machines to activate their customers. Initiatives such as these have significantly eased the difficulties caused by paperwork for consumers and has also reduced waiting time for activation of services.
As Indian Government ask Google, Apple and other leading tech companies to integrate Aadhaar into their products (postponed by companies), Mumbai based Indus OS has already developed such Aadhaar integrated infrastructure.
“With the government pushing for higher adoption of Aadhaar related services in the country, Aadhaar based systems have received mainstream attention in the India. Recently, the Indian Government has launched a number of initiatives giving rise to more Aadhaar authenticated applications. This innovation will give smartphone manufacturers an extra edge and act as a means to showcase their support towards government led initiatives,” the company said in a statement.
Indus OS has already partnered with six Indian smartphone makers, including Micromax, Intex, Karbonn, Celkon and Swipe.
How Iris based Aadhaar authentication works in Indus OS
The combination of unique software and hardware, will allows to captures the detailed iris information with a built-in dedicated iris scanning camera. The captures information will be double encrypted with the both Indus OS and UID’s public kay.
Once encryption completed, the information will be sent to UID’s server, which will authenticate the user. If the authentication is successful, the user can utilize the Aadhaar ID for the rest of the activities, where the Aadhaar authentication is required.
Whenever a new authentication is required, the dedicated iris scanning camera powered by the Delta ID software, and the Indus OS will instantly authenticate it, using your iris.
What Can Indus OS do?
First and foremost, the Indus OS supports 12 regional languages such as Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Odia, Assamese, Punjabi, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Urdu, Bengali, Marathi, besides English. Which is useful to non-English speaking smartphone users.
The Indus OS also supports text to speech translation. This means, using services in regional languages is immense benefit to the regional user.
Banking, payments and all other Aadhaar enabled services are going to seamlessly fast with an iris authentication technology as well.
